    Prospect Park – Minneapolis, Minnesota

livability: parks & Recreation

Our public parks, green spaces, and civic spaces serve to bring the community together and provide meeting places for people in our neighborhood to recreate, engage with the natural world, and share experiences.

Prospect Park Neighborhood parks

We are fortunate to benefit from a far-sighted legacy of creating parks and open spaces in Prospect Park.

  • Chergovsky Park - A tree-filled park offering a totlot playground and a picnic area at the foot of Seymour Ave and the pedestrian bridge over I-94 connecting residents to East River Road created in the 1980s.

  • East River Parkway - Part of the Minneapolis Parks Scenic Grand Rounds on the east side of the Mississippi River.

  • Luxton Park and Recreation Center - A community and recreation center with outdoor soccer and softball fields, basketball courts, wading pool, and indoor gymnasium and meeting rooms.

  • River Gorge Park - The east-bank Mississippi River flats stretch from the University of Minnesota to the St. Paul border and offer exciting opportunities to experience wildlife, restored prairie, beautiful sunsets, and wooded hiking and biking. See the Minneapolis Park Board webpage for Mississippi Gorge Regional Park.

  • Dartmouth Triangle - This "pocket park" or "parklet" features a spring water tap (now capped) adjacent to West River Pkwy and SE Ontario St. created as Slovak Park during the NRP process in the 1990s.

  • Tower Hill Park (Prospect Park) - Features the historic Witch's Hat Water Tower and tennis courts. See also Tower Hill Park Placeography page.
