SEASONAL ACTIVITIES

Spring

  • Explore bikeways leading out of Prospect Park: east to St. Paul along the Transitway; west to Dinkytown along the Transitway; south to the Greenway by crossing the Franklin Avenue bridge.
  • Step up your bartending game with a cocktail class at O’Shaughnessy Distilling Co.
  • Take a guided Architecture-focused tour of Surly Brewing during Doors Open Minneapolis.
  • Celebrate with the Community at the annual Ice Cream Social at the end of May/beginning of June.
  • Learn the Nordic tradition of spoon carving at Fireweed Community Workshop.
  • Register the kids for Summer sports programs at Luxton Park (programs fill up fast!).
  • Have fun with Fiber Art for Families for kids ages 2-5 years & a caregiver at the Textile Center.
  • Register kids for Summer maker space workshops on pewter casting, furniture making, lego mastering and so much more at Leonardo’s Basement.

Summer

  • View the City of Minneapolis skyline at sunset from the base of the Witch’s Hat Water Tower in Tower Hill Park.
  • Bring your brains and your friend to play Trivia Mafia at Malcolm Yards Market.
  • Play tennis on the courts in Tower Hill Park.
  • Explore Scandinavian wood carving, sewing, felting, rope-making, wirework and more in a class at Signature Arts.
  • Learn about Timber Framing at Firewood Community Woodshop.
  • Sfiffling hot and no A/C? No problem! Don your swimsuit, bring a towel, and splash at the Luxton Park wading pool.
  • Register your kids for a Youth Summer camp at the Textile Center.
  • Grab a beer and attend a Dog Adoption event at Surly Brewing.

Fall

  • Hike along the south along Mississippi River Flats below East River Parkway starting at the stairs just east of the Franklin Avenue Bridge.
  • Walk under the Franklin Avenue Bridge north to observe Bridal Veil Falls and the where Bridal Veil Creek empties into the Mississippi River.
  • Enroll in Adult Community Education Classes at Pratt School.
  • Enjoy music concerts at Surly Brewing.
  • Take in the view of Fall colors from the railing on the east side of the Franklin Avenue Bridge.
  • Observe the harvests at the several Prospect Park Community Gardens and Bridal Veil Park.

Winter

  • Attend a U of M Renter’s Ed Workshop.
  • Take a yoga class at The Market at Malcolm Yards.
  • Have a Beijing Mu She Port Rice Bowl at Tea House.
  • Play disc golf putting at Surly Brewing Field.
  • Start you holiday shopping at The Holiday Market at Market at Malcolm Yards.
  • Visit the Textile Center’s Holiday Gallery Shop.
  • Take a walk on New Year’s Eve to see the Luminarias along the sidewalks.
  • Celebrate Groundhog Day at Luxton Park’s Fire & Ice Festival.
