Housing: environment
As an older neighborhood Prospect Park is blessed with much greenery and residents are always seeking ways of improving our air and water quality and maintaining sufficient green space in our physical environment.
Our proximity to the Mississippi River on the south and the railroad tracks on the north ensures that we see critters of all kinds: small mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Have a look at an informal 2010 inventory!
ON-Going Environmental efforts in prospect park
Recent attention has been directed to:
- boulevard rain gardens
- eradication of non-native buckthorn trees
- continually replacing trees affected by dutch elm disease
Follow the activities of the neighborhood's PPA Environment Committee.
