This year's Garden Walk is organized around the theme Water >>Food>>Healing, featuring public and private gardens inspired by one or more of these essential elements. The selection of public and private gardens will showcase both well-established and newly installed rain gardens, neighborhood vegetable gardens, and therapeutic gardens (broadly defined) including fairy gardens and Zen meditation gardens having the effect of nourishing and nurturing.
The Prospect Park Garden Club identifies interesting and exceptional gardens in the neighborhood and organizes a walk to view them all in one afternoon. In the past the tours have featured a variety of perennial and annual garden types, ranging from an urban farm lot and a large straw bale garden to a hillside fairy garden, one with a waterfall and Signature Café's backyard pallet garden.
Maps of the Garden Walk and Garden Descriptions are available for pick up after June 19 at Signature Café (130 SE Warwick Ave) and Schneider Drugstore, the new Hub City Café, the Textile Center, and Dunn Brothers Coffee Lab (all on SE University Ave) or at the Plant Sale on the day of the walk.
